The first through twelfth grade faith formation program will be hosting several garage sales during New Prague's citywide sale in May. Please consider hosting one of the sales. Any gently used items will be happily accepted for donation to this fundraiser. We are also in need of space to store collected items. More information will be in the bulletin in 2008. For questions, or to volunteer as a host site, worker, or to offer storage; please call the Faith Formation office at 952-758- 2276. Thank-you.
St. Wenceslaus Faith Formation Mission Statement
The Faith Formation program at St. Wenceslaus strives to support parents in their role as primary educator through incorporation of four key ingredients into our program. These ingredients are:
message, community, worship, and service.
Our aim is to help children and teens bring their Catholic faith alive and develop a relationship with Jesus Christ through support of our staff, catechists and parents. The family is a child’s first experience of living the Catholic faith. As such, parents are strongly encouraged to be a part of our program as catechists or aides and to support activities such as retreats and service projects. As a true community, we are all called to serve according to our individual gifts and talents.
We are first and foremost a worshiping community. Your family’s presence at Liturgy speaks louder than words in teaching your children respect for the Commandments, faithfulness to the Church and its Traditions, and most certainly love and respect for our God.
We strive to support and prepare all those called to ministry in faith formation by providing effective and ongoing guidance, evaluation, resources, and programming. Desiring to foster deeper communion in all we do, we are committed to fulfilling the mission and meeting the challenges of the Church today and tomorrow.

Preschool & Elementary
LAF (grades 6-8) & Youth Alive
The Youth Alive Program is for teens in grades 10-12 (2007-2008). Groups meet on Wednesday or Sunday evenings in the homes of the leaders. Students and catechists decide together the topics and activities that their group will cover during the year. Resources and materials are provided by the Youth Minister.
Youth Ministry opportunities include service projects, liturgical celebrations, youth activity events, mission experience and summer camps.
Intergenerational Events (It’s a Family Affair) Sharing our faith as a family is a wonderful way to bond and grow in our spiritual life. We invite everyone in our parish family to join in these intergenerational events. The Seasonal Celebrations program by Silver Burdett is centered on the proclamation of the Gospel. These events provide us with opportunities to grow in our understanding of what it means to be a disciple of Christ in the Catholic community. Information will be listed in the parish bulletin.
Confirmation is a two year program for 9th & 10th graders that has several components. Since this is new to the parish, only 9th graders and any upperclassmen that have not been confirmed will be involved this year, 2007-2008. Regular sessions are held on twelve Sunday mornings after the 8:30 Mass. The focus is on the invitation to follow Jesus. Youth will also be involved in a parish service project, a December retreat, participation in the Youth Ministry program and interaction with sponsors.
Confirmation service project report and website inquiry project due April 7.
These are back to back on the orange page in your red Confirmation folder. No need to have anything from a project mentor, as mentioned on the bottom of the page. If you have not worked on your service project yet, just fill in what you can. Drop off at the Faith Formation office or mail to Mary Higgins at 227 E. Main St., New Prague. You do not need to turn in the red book that you have been working on with your sponsor.
See you April 13 at our youth-sponsor event.
