What is it?
First Avenue Properties of New Prague is a 501 (c) (3), non-profit religious, corporation who's Board of Directors is appointed by the pastor of The Church of St. Wenceslaus.

What is its purpose?
First Avenue Properties was formed for the purpose of purchasing the properties along the east side of First Avenue North that are contiguous with the Parish's property line on the west. First Avenue Properties will assume responsibility for the purchase, financing, management and payment of the mortgage for each property. When the titles to said properties are free and clear those properties will be turned over to The Church of St. Wenceslaus at no charge.

Why are these properties of interest to The Church of St. Wenceslaus?
Upon completion of an extensive evaluation of current and future needs, a Master Plan was presented to the Parish in March 2001. That Master Plan recognized that as the New Prague community grew so would its churches. To adequately provide for its ministries, St. Wenceslaus would need to expand its facilities and parking, and thus its property. Those additional facilities and parking needs are illustrated in the Long Term Needs section of the Master Plan.

When are these properties to be acquired?
First Avenue Properties intends to purchase the properties when the owners decide it is time to sell. The acquisition of the entire two blocks may well take 10 or more years to accomplish.

How are these properties to be acquired?
Scott County estimated the market value in 2008 to be over one million dollars. The funds for this project would come from donations. Any donation is tax deductible, the same as any contribution would be to The Church of St. Wenceslaus. Donations designated for this project may be sent to the address below, payable to First Avenue Properties of New Prague. Please direct questions to one of the individuals listed below.
