Religion

  • Know the relationship between God the Father and Jesus.
  • Know the story of the Fall and the story of God’s fulfillment of the promise of a Savior.
  • Know the two great laws of love and that Jesus forgives us when we break His laws.
  • Know the Paschal Mystery of Jesus.
  • Know we are called to be active members of the Church.

 

Language Arts

  • Be able to read, write, speak and listen for many purposes.
  • Be able to read and understand the meaning of simple words.
  • Be able to read for meaning (main idea, sequence) and be able to read aloud fluently.
  • Be able to communicate with legible and complete sentences.
  • Discuss what is read.
  • Listen to a story or information article and summarize main ideas in sequence.
  • Correctly spell the first thirty basic sight words.

Math

  • Be able to read, write, and compare numbers 100 to 999 and understand up to the hundredths place value.
  • Regroups to the tens place.
  • Easily recall addition and subtraction facts and processes to 18.
  • Be able to use standard linear measurement.
  • Be able to use instruments for measuring temperature and weight.
  • Recognize and label fractions in halves, thirds, and fourths.
  • Recognize all coin values
  • Count money up to one dollar value.
  • Tell time to the five minute interval.

Science

  • Understand differences and similarities between living and non-living things.
  • Group animals by size, shape, body coverings, and movement.
  • Describe different body parts and systems.
  • Understand how simple machines work.
  • Understand the properties of soils and rocks and how water move.

 

Social Studies

  • Know about families.
  • Understand the difference between needs and wants.
  • Understand the essentials of fire safety.        
  • Understand the meaning of elections.
  • Be introduced to United States history.        
  • Be exposed to a variety of Christmas traditions.
  • Learn about special Americans.
  • Understand our country’s holidays and symbols.

Technology

  • Understand and be able to properly use the keyboard.
  • Understand basic computer operations.
  • Be able to use hardware and software safely and properly.
  • Be able to use a computer as an educational tool.

 

Art

  • Be able to use the elements of art, especially color and line, to make things.
  • Be able to use the principles of art, especially variety and repetition, to make things.
  • Make many kinds of art and useful things.
  • Enjoy and learn about art made by other cultures.

Music

  • Show the difference between loud and soft and between fast and slow.
  • Be able to hear high from low and other kinds of sounds.
  • Know that music is a series of sounds called notes.
  • Hear and make steady, strong, and silent beats.
  • Play accompaniment.
  • Respond to different kinds of music.
  • Take care of instruments.
  • Be a good audience.
