All parents are considered members of the Home & School Association. The mission of our association is to promote good will, cooperation and communication between parents and the school. By working together, we can help our school to be the best it can be. Home and School sponsors fundraising events such as Dozinky, Marathon, Scott County Fair and Sweepstakes Dance. We also support the following activities at St. Wenceslaus; Buddy Family Program, Uniform Exchange, Family Directory, Parent Info Night, Teacher & Staff Christmas Gifts, Cookies for Christmas Program, Staff Lunches, Long Lake Trip, Grandparents Day, Garage Sale, Teacher Appreciation, Teacher Grants and Families in need. If you are interested in helping with any of these fall events or activities, please fill out and return this form. Your help is greatly needed and appreciated!
Current Leadership members & activities list
PLAYGROUND AIDES – We need you! Your responsibility is to assist the playground supervisor in monitoring children’s safety and behavior on the playground. Parents are needed for 3 playground shifts between 10:40 and 12:00. You may volunteer for as many or few shifts as you would like. Ideally, we recommend a year long commitment to a specific day and shift, but you might like to share this position with another volunteer by alternating weeks. If you are interested in substituting, please let us know.
DOZINKY DAYS – Done for this year - THANKS for your help! This is a two-hour time committment.
HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE – Do you have a gift for making people feel appreciated? Do you like to cook or bake? If so, we need you! At the fall and spring Parent/Teacher conferences the H & S provides a meal for the teachers. In some cases we ask for a $5.00 to put towards catered food or ask you to bring in a salad, bars, or snacks.
RECYCLE CANS – Your agreement to help with this project will raise hundreds of dollars for extra school programs for kids. If you have a trailer hitch and ball, you might like to join the team. When the aluminum can trailer gets full, you will be called to haul it to Mankato for processing. This is a very worthwhile cause and your support is essential.
GARAGE SALE – Do you love a garage sale? Then we need you help! Home and School will be having another garage sale this spring and will need help sorting, pricing and working the garage sale.
LUNCHROOM AIDES – Would you like to help serve lunch to kids? We need parents to volunteer to help out in the lunchroom during all lunch periods.
MARATHON – We have an energetic committee already working hard on this project, but we need many volunteers to assist on Marathon Day. Parents are needed the day of the marathon to help in various areas.
Paper Drive Truck – The paper Drive truck in located on the school parking lot year round. Volunteers are needed on the 2nd and 4th Saturday’s of each month from 9:00-11:00 AM. Volunteers help people unload papers out of their cars/trucks and stack them in the large semi-truck trailer.
Buddy Families paired up with new school families. Buddy families are asked to contact new families before school events, answer any questions about school programs, to invite new families to attend school functions and to explain how all school functions work. This involves making a variety of phone calls to new families throughout the year.
Scott County Fair – School volunteers work the parking entrance gate at the Scott County Fair each July. This involves a two-hour shift on one day of the fair. The school receives ½ the profit of the parking fees collected.
