Program Overview

Preschool:
We offer a structured program within a caring, nurturing atmosphere that allows children to
grow, to experience new things, and to feel secure and capable in God’s world.
Our goals are for children to develop a strong sense of self-esteem, to develop small and large
muscle skills, to encourage creativity and decision making skills, to enjoy group interaction, to
foster social development with peers and adults, and to develop language, pre-math, and preliteracy skills.

Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten program is curriculum structured, with time allowed for social growth.

Elementary (1-4)
Our elementary program incorporates the responsive classroom model for the teaching of social skills. Our math curriculum is a daily hands on program, while language arts focuses on whole and small group instruction to target students' independent reading levels. Our language arts program also encompasses a writer's workshop, enabling students to publish their own pieces while working on the writing process. Science and social studies are a time of discovery through shared teaching. Religion is a daily part of the elementary curriculum.

Middle School (5-8)
St. Wenceslaus School’s middle school program begins in 5th grade. We have a fifth and sixth grade house and a seventh and eighth grade house. In our program, middle school students are exposed to a wide variety of academic and enrichment experiences and opportunities. Teachers work with teams of students over a two-year period as they specialize in curricular areas. In addition, band and choir are offered during the day at St. Wenceslaus. Students in grade 8 are bused to the New Prague Middle School (NPMS) for science.

6th, 7th and 8th grade students also have opportunity for elective classes in the following areas: technology, performing arts, foreign language, art (pottery, drawing), music, literature, robotics, knowledge bowl, yearbook and others.

Counseling
Our school counselor works with individual students who are experiencing academic, social, or emotional difficulties. Individual or small group counseling is available with parent permission. The school counselor is available to meet with parents who have questions or concerns about their child.

Special Services

St. Wenceslaus works with the New Prague Public School System (District 721) for students who need special services.
